Northeastern North Carolina is located just to the south of South Hampton Roads and is sometimes referred to as "the sixth city" of South Hampton Roads. It is made up of sixteen counites including the following:

  • Perquimans
  • Hertford
  • Bertie
  • Martin
  • Northampton
  • and Gates

  • The Outer Banks was named one of the United States’ top 10 beaches for 2005 and hosts over 7 million visitors each year

  • The recently constructed Graveyard of the Atlantic Museum on Hatteras Island, is a 19,000-sq-ft facility containing information on the area’s maritime history as well as displays of shipwrecks and salvage materials form war ships, ghost ships and lighthouses
