Offset Ad Photo Composition
All editions of The Virginian-Pilot including part run editions are produced using photo composition and printed on offset presses. The size of the printed ad is identical to the size of the layout submitted for production. Tabloid ads will have a 4% reduction in printed width.
Standard Page Size
129 inches (6 columns x 21-1/2"); 11-1/2" x 21-1/2"; full-page art or paste-up copy for full pages is set at 21-1/2 inches. Separate ads or multiple ads ordered pyramided, measuring more than 19 inches in depth, will be charged at full column depth. Minimum depth increments will be 1/4 inch per column.
Tabloid Page Size
57.5 inches (5 columns x 11-1/2"); 9-9/16" x 11-1/2"; ads measuring more than 9" deep will be charged at full column depth (11-1/2 inches).
Double Trucks
258 inches (12 columns x 21-1/2") 24" x 21-1/2". Full-size double trucks accepted at the regular rate. Short double trucks requesting exclusivity accepted at premium rate. Talk with your Virginian-Pilot Account Representative for details.
Tabloid Double Trucks
115 inches (10 columns x 11-1/2"); 20-3/32" x 11-1/2" minimum. Only full width and full depth double trucks accepted.

Full Color Ads
To insure quality full-color reproduction, a 1/4-inch deep color bar will be placed in the bottom portion of the scheduled ad space.
