OFFICIAL RULES
Contest begins: March 28, 2008
Contest ends: April 24, 2008
- Eligibility: Contest is open only to legal residents of Virginia and North Carolina who are eighteen (18) years of age or older at the time of their registration. Employees of The Virginian-Pilot, its advertising agencies, their subsidiaries, representatives, and their families or households are ineligible to enter/win. NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. Winners will be drawn randomly from all correctly submitted emails. Winners will be listed in The Virginian-Pilot on April 4, 11, 18 and 25, 2008. Winners will also be notified by phone, mail and/or email.
- Prize: There will be four sets of winners. Each winner receives: two tickets to the Crown Royal Presents the Dan Lowry 400 (scheduled for May 3, 2008). Tickets are valued at $175.00 per pair.
- Conditions of Participation: Limit one entry per person per day. All contests entrants acknowledge as a condition of entry that The Virginian-Pilot has a right to publicize the winner's name, picture and/or voice in connection with the contest, without any compensation or prior review unless prohibited by law. All prizes are non-transferable and void where prohibited by law. No cash substitution of prizes allowed. Winners understand and agree that they are responsible for and will pay all federal, state and other taxes, if any, incurred on prizes received. Prize must be claimed within thirty (30) calendar days of notification of winning. Upon acceptance of a prize, proper picture identification (e.g., valid driver's license, passport) from the winner is required. All prizes unclaimed after thirty (30) days will automatically be forfeited and may be disposed of at The Virginian-Pilot's discretion. Under unique circumstances as determined by The Virginian-Pilot, a representative designated by the winner will be allowed to accept the prize for the winner. Written authorization from the winner including such representative's name, ID, and a photocopy of the winner's valid driver's license is required in such event. In the event that a winner voluntarily chooses to decline a prize, he/she automatically forfeits all claims to that prize. The Virginian-Pilot then has the right, but not the obligation, to award that prize to a contest runner-up.In the event of non-availability of a prize, The Virginian-Pilot and/or The Daily Press may substitute another prize of equal or similar value; provided, THE VIRGINIAN-PILOT IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE CANCELLATION, POSTPONEMENT OR RESCHEDULING OF THE CROWN ROYAL PRESENTS THE DAN LOWRY 400. By entering the "Race to Pilot Sports" contest, entrants release The Virginian-Pilot and its respective parent companies, affiliates, and advertising and promotions agencies and their respective employees, officers, shareholders, directors and agents from any and all liability for any injuries, loss or damages of any kind caused by any prize or resulting from acceptance, possession, use or misuse of any prize. If required by The Virginian-Pilot. By entering, all entrants acknowledge that The Virginian-Pilot and its respective parent companies, affiliates, and advertising and promotions agencies and their respective employees, officers, shareholders, directors and agents are not responsible and shall not be liable for (i) late, lost, delayed, misdirected, incomplete, inaccurate or unintelligible entries; (ii) any printing, typographical, administrative or technological errors in any material associated with contest; (iii) any injuries, losses or damages of any kind caused by the prizes or resulting from acceptance, possession or use of a prize. In the case of a dispute over an entry submission, the decision of The Virginian-Pilot is final. The Contest will be governed by the internal laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia. Any and all legal actions or claims arising in connection with the Contest must be brought in a court of competent jurisdiction in Norfolk, Virginia.
- Odds of Winning: Odds of winning weekly qualifying prizes and/or grand prize(s) will depend on the number of qualified entries.
